With the election results in, we return to?our regular programming and the big shows of the November ratings period.
A few highlights:
1. ?Survivor: Philippines? will conclude its current season Dec. 16 on CBS. But there?s a lot of?game to play?before?that finale. CBS offers this preview of the episode at 8 Wednesday: ?In one of the most complicated and entertaining Tribal Councils ever, a brutally honest conversation leads to surprising revelations.? The network?s promo suggests that ?Facts of Life? star Lisa Whelchel will be showcased.
2. ?Survivor? offers a real alternative to the singing contests on NBC and Fox. NBC delivers two hours of ?The Voice? at 8. Fox counters with two hours of ?The X Factor? at 8. Recent telecasts suggest that ?The Voice? is upstaging ?The X Factor.? What do you think?
3. ?Cheers? fans will want to look in on ?Modern Family? at 9 on ABC. Shelley Long returns as Dede, Jay?s ex-wife. Jay (Ed O?Neill) is determined to make sure that Dede won?t see the pregnant Gloria (Sofia Vergara). It sounds like a hectic half-hour, because?the episode will visit?the hospital and the police station.
4. ?The Middle? presents Jane Kaczmarek of ?Malcolm in the Middle? as Frankie?s all-business dental teacher. Axl?s foot injury figures in the plot at 8 on ABC, and Rick Harrison of ?Pawn Stars? plays a pawn-store employee.
5. It?s a rough fall for new series. Just consider that CBS? long-running ?CSI? at 10 is pulling in more viewers than either ABC?s ?Nashville? or NBC?s ?Chicago Fire.? And don?t look for that to change tonight.
